O que eu faria sem internet?
Começou com minha irmã falando para minha mãe que o pessoal que toca reggae fuma muita maconha. Minha mãe duvidou e eu entrei na conversa — disse que tem muitos jamaicanos e tocadores de reggae que são rastafaris — uma religião. Uma religião?!? Minha mãe e minha irmã duvidam e eu entro no verbete sobre o movimento rastafari na wikipedia, que dá detalhes sobre o assunto.
Lendo o artigo, descubro que os rastafaris têm conexão com a bíblia (com a diferença que o messias é um antigo imperador da Etiópia) e seguem vários dos livros. Uma parte do artigo fala dos dreadlocks:
Rastas believe dreadlocks to be supported by Leviticus (“They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in the flesh.”) and the Nazirite vow in Numbers (“All the days of the vow of his separation there shall no razor come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth himself unto the LORD, he shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow.”).
Com o quê os dreadlocks são coisa do antigo testamento. Pensei mais um pouco — quem mais segue o antigo testamento? Judeus ortodoxos!!! Uma procura no Yahoo Answers por “Why do Jews have that unique hair style where there are two long curls on the side of their heads?” encontra a seguinte resposta:
Because the Bible says to not cut the hair on the sides of your head. Source: Leviticus 19:27 “Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard.”
Com o que se pode concluir que judeus ortodoxos ostentam uma versão dos dreadlocks rastafaris, ou vice-versa. Quem diria…
